Okay, I'm not going to lie: Netflix's new Thai horror film The Maid was off to a slow start. To be perfectly honest, the beginning was downright corny and wasn't scary at all (friendly tip: please don't mind the monkey)! But the movie, which is rated 18+, escalated in a way I never expected it to. It also reminded me of another must-watch offering from Thailand, Girl From Nowhere.
The Maid tells the story of a girl named Joy (Ploy Sornarin) who starts working for a rich family living in a ~haunted~ mansion. The mansion's owners live with their kid and three other employees and are cold, secretive, and sometimes plain rude. As Joy discovers secrets about her employers, we learn that she has a personal agenda of her own.
Lead actress Ploy Sornarin has appeared in multiple Thai horror movies such as Siam Square (2017), Reside (2018), and Viral (2018). The Maid also stars Pinky Savika Chaiyadej as "Madame" Uma, Tui Thiraphat Sajakul as Nirach, and Kannaporn Puangtong as Ploy.
The Maid is currently on Netflix's Top 10 Most-Watched Movies in the Philippines! For more ~fun~, watch behind-the-scenes clips from the film below:
