5 Travel Makeup Tips

Want to look summer-sensational on your next trip without having to pack your entire kikay apparatus? Here are some no-fail tools and tricks for staying pretty while on vacay!

Travel Makeup

1. Clean up your brows.

With groomed arches (done by a pro, if possible), you look polished even without a speck of makeup, so you can skimp on your regular regimen while you're away.

2. Blend liquid shimmer into your foundation.

"It's the safest way to get that beach glow without having to tan," says Shu Uemura makeup artist Omar Ermita. Try mixing Benefit Sun Beam (P1,800) with your fave liquid foundation and shake it up. Tip: If you'd rather do this on an as-needed basis, mix a dollop that's one-quarter shimmer and three quarters foundation.

3. Pack a palette.

Multi-purpose compacts like Benefit Cabana Glama (P2,000) not only save space in your bag, but they're also color-coordinated for creating different looks.

4. Don't forget the cottonbuds.

They're perfect for applying eyeshadow, blending liner, and erasing smudges. (This means the only brush you'll need to pack is for blush.) If you want to get creative, soak buds in a lavender-scented makeup remover, and seal them in a ziplock bag before you leave. That way, you can open the bag for calming whiffs and fix makeup goofs on the go.

5. Carry a highlighter.

The makeup versions bring light to your complexion and soften any flaws. Best of all, you can use just one all over. Tap a creamy highlighter under your brows, on the inside corners of your eyes, and on the tops of your cheekbones. Check out Etude House Wannabe Lumi-Ball Highlighter (P648) which comes in easy-to-use pearls for fuss-free application. Extra tip: Avoid the T-zone since the glimmering particles will accentuate any shine.
