Don't you just miss watching K-dramas with so many clichés? While we love series with shocking plot twists, we have to admit that we like seeing tropes such as the rich guy, poor girl plot and the ~accidental~ kisses. Good thing, 2022 blessed us with Business Proposal and it became the K-drama we look forward to after work!
Now that Tae Moo and Ha Ri's story has ended, we know you're looking for more feel-good shows that don't require a lot of thinking and guarantee next-level kilig. From office romances to fake identities...
Here's a list of K-dramas on Netflix and Viu that you should watch after Business Proposal:
1. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018)
Who's in it: Park Seo Joon, Park Min Young, Lee Tae Hwan, Pyo Ye Jin
Where you can watch it: Netflix and Viu
If there's a K-drama that's *very* similar to Business Proposal, that would be What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. The male lead is a narcissistic chaebol who has the same hairstyle and vibes as Tae Moo, he fell in love with his employee, and the steamy kissing scenes in this series will live in your head rent-free. And did we mention that it's adapted from a webtoon, too?
2. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (2017)
Who's in it: Park Hyun Sik, Park Bo Young, Ji Soo
Where you can watch it: Netflix and Viu
Ainsoft CEO Ahn Min Hyuk is a chaebol's son yet he wants to succeed on his own—and so he established a gaming company. Not long after, he starts receiving threats and is now followed by a stalker! Enter Bong Soon, a woman with superhuman strength who was hired by Min Hyuk to be his bodyguard. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is a mix of fantasy and romance, but its top-tier comedy is what made us enjoy all 16 episodes.
3. The Master's Sun (2013)
Who's in it: So Ji Sub, Gong Hyo Jin, Seo In Guk
Where you can watch it: Netflix and Viu
Want something ~creepy~ on your rom-com list? The Master's Sun is what you're looking for! In this drama, Gong Hyo Jin plays Tae Gong Shil, a cheerful person whose life was changed after an accident. She's now cursed with the ability to see ghosts and suffers from insomnia. Things started looking up when she meets CEO Joong Won (So Ji Sub) who's actually nice despite his selfish exterior. Thanks to him, the spirits vanish whenever Gong Shil's near him.
4. You're Beautiful (2009)
Who's in it: Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk, FT Island's Lee Hong Ki, CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa
Where you can watch it: Netflix
*Fake* identity alert! You're Beautiful tells the story of an aspiring nun named Go Mi Nyeo and her twin brother, Go Mi Nam. One day, Mi Nam had to go abroad because his plastic surgery went wrong. He's actually a part of a band called A.N Jell and Mi Nyeo has to pretend that she's Mi Nam for a month! It wasn't love at first sight when she met the group's lead vocalist, Hwang Tae Kyung, but he slowly warms up to Mi Nyeo after discovering the ~real~ her.
5. Coffee Prince (2007)
Who's in it: Gong Yoo, Yoon Eun Hye, Lee Sun Kyun, Chae Jung Ahn
Where you can watch it: Netflix
A classic gem that you shouldn't miss, Coffee Prince is one of the series that introduced us to K-drama clichés. It has a grandmother who's obsessed with setting up blind dates for her grandson and a fake dating plot just like Business Proposal! The twist? The female lead is often mistaken for a guy, and so the male lead hires her to pretend that she's his gay lover.
6. True Beauty (2020)
Who’s in it: Moon Ga Young, Cha Eun Woo, Hwang In Yeop, Park Yoo Na
Where you can watch it: Viu
Let's take a break from ~mature~ rom-coms and go back to high school: True Beauty is based on the popular webtoon of the same name and has so many typical K-drama scenes but we're definitely not complaining! It was our serotonin boost in 2020 because of its light, super kilig, and funny storyline. The love triangle will have you rooting for the second lead, while the friendships are something that will touch your heart. True Beauty is also chock-full of life lessons, from loving yourself and understanding the struggles of those who are around you.
