Park Seo Joon's character Park Saeroyi in Itaewon Class didn't just change our lives—it changed the actor's views as well!
In a recent interview with Esquire Korea, PSJ talked about his recently concluded K-drama, saying, "I wanted to take on a different kind of genre. Although [Itaewon Class] was a drama that had elements of multiple genres, I thought what was most important was Park Saeroyi's growth as a person...I found myself thinking about what kind of influence Park Saeroyi's words would have on society." He added: "I wasn't originally someone who had much interest in societal issues, but Saeroyi was different. While filming this drama, I found myself thinking more about societal issues. I also ended up growing and evolving."
Itaewon Class is a "revenge story" that centers on Park Saeroyi, whose life changed after he refused to apologize for standing up to a bully named Jang Geun Won—the son of a rich businessman. When Saeroyi's father is brutally murdered, he vows to take his revenge on the devious Jang family and spends years trying to beat their business Jangga Co.
No doubt about it: We're bound to see greater things from PSJ! In a recent 24-hour poll by Cosmopolitan Philippines, Park Seo Joon (unsurprisingly) emerged as the winner. Netflix Philippines' Top Ten most-watched list also includes three of his shows: Itaewon Class (5), Fight For My Way (8), and What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (10).
