At such a young age, Ry Velasco is already making *significant* investments. Earlier this year, the 22-year-old content creator bought her first car. (In case you're curious, she got a luxury SUV—a BMW X1, to be exact—and vlogged all about it here.)
Now, she's achieved another major milestone: having a place of her own. In one of her YouTube vlogs which she considered as a love letter for her viewers, Ry shared, "I've been really, really romanticizing living alone or moving out for the longest time, but feel ko hindi ko siya kaya gawin. I feel like hindi ko kaya lahat gawin mag-isa. And then suddenly, a lot of people in my life started doing it. Well, dahil din sa kanila, I had the courage to do it also. I feel like this is something I yet needed to explore. I feel like I have to get out of my comfort zone to grow even more. And today, feel ko kaya ko nang sabihan na, 'I am ready.'"
Ry started documenting her ~moving out journey~ in August, and we're definitely here for it! In fact, we've picked up some helpful lessons from her videos on what it's like to settle into a new home. If you're also thinking about taking this big step, keep on reading.

Set a budget and track all your moving out expenses.
This is super important, you guys! Ry said so herself, "If magmo-move out din kayo, ito yung kailangan niyo i-consider." She suggests that you make an Excel file or set up a Google Sheet to monitor what you've spending on. That way, you'll also get to see if you're still within your budget.
Consider your preferences and make the necessary changes.
At the end of the day, you should remember that the place you're moving into will be your *new* personal space. Since you'll be spending most of your time in it, of course, you'd want it to be comfortable. Think about how it can reflect your personality and lifestyle, too.
In one of her videos, Ry gave a quick tour and pointed out that some areas of her new home needed more lighting. She's considering replacing some pin lights to make the space look brighter.
Measure everything.
There are a lot of appliances and home decor that can easily attract your attention, but when it comes to furnishing your new place, here's a friendly reminder to avoid impulse buying! Before you purchase items, check niyo muna if you actually have enough space for it. ;)
Invest in pieces that'll benefit you in the longrun.
Safety is definitely a priority! Ry mentioned that even though they're expensive, she chose to invest in digital locks and have them installed on her doors for security purposes. She also purchased sensor alarms which she conveniently placed on her windows.
Buy groceries in bulk.
Save yourself from the additional (and unnecessary) trips to the grocery. Getting everything you need all in one go will surely save you money. And if you think about it, at a time like this, limited time outside = less exposure.
Never underestimate a home-cooked meal.
Sayang naman if your groceries are just stocked up in your pantry. Consider learning some quick and easy recipes that you can make at home. Food deliveries are so convenient nowadays, but trust us, preparing home-cooked meals are great, too! Your wallet will thank you later.
Be smart about storage.
