Friends add more ~*sparkle*~ to our lives—they laugh and cry with us, protect us from ~bad elements~, support our dreams, and give us reality checks when we need it. They stay by our side through the good and bad, and if you’re reading this now, take time to say thank you to your BFFs!

K-dramas have shown us that friendships are built during different seasons of life: Some are formed during childhood, while others are discovered while we're all lost and trying to figure out ~*adulting*~.

For us, the best K-dramas are those that remind us of real life—friendship scenarios included. Sometimes, they just feel *too* real that we actually want to be friends with the characters on the dramas and join their chat group, lol!

Here, a list of K-drama barkadas that we wish we were a part of, too:

1. Reply 1988’s Ssangmundong Squad

They say that friends are the family members you can choose. The Ssangmundong Squad (Lee Hyeri, Park Bo Gum, Ryu Joon Yeol, Go Kyung Pyo, and Lee Dong Hwi) will make you reminisce about your childhood friends and kapitbahays who you used to watch TV shows with and experienced growing pains together. Despite inevitably growing apart when you're all older, this kind of friendship is the type that stays with you for life. Excuse me while I wipe these happy tears.

2. The Hospital Playlist Barkada

No one can question the chemistry between Lee Ik Joon (Jo Jung Suk), Ahn Jung Won (Yoo Yeon Seok), Kim Joon Wan (Jung Kyung Ho), Yang Seok Hyung (Kim Dae Myung), and Chae Song Hwa (Jeon Mi Do). This barkada went through medical school together, work in the same hospital, and even have their own band! Just like the rest of us, they sometimes don’t tell secrets to each other, get into food fights, and have *super* loud conversations. Sama kami, please?

3. Itaewon Class’ DanBam Squad

With a goal to make DanBam the best restaurant there is in South Korea, this squad (Park Seo Joon, Kim Da Mi, Kim Dong Hee, Lee Joo Young, and Chris Lyon) will make you realize that even if you come from different backgrounds, there will always be a common denominator: and that’s compassion. Everybody sing: I can fly the sky, never gonna stay!

4. Fight For My Way’s Fantastic Four

We love how this friendship evolved and stayed strong, even as they grew old and faced life’s challenges. Fight For My Way’s Ko Dong Man (Park Seo Joon), Choi Ae Ra (Kim Ji Won), Kim Joo Man (Ahn Jae Hong), and Song Ha Yoon (Baek Seol Hee) are the BFFs who inspire us to go get that dream no matter how hard it gets. They also show us how true friends will help you get through anything. Fighting!

5. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’s Swag Squad

Friends who eat together, stay together! Bonded by their love for food, weightlifting, and the word “swag!” Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung), Nan Hee (Choi Hye Jung), and Seon Ok (Lee Joo Young) made us all smile with their cheerful outlook in life, support for each other, and fun noraebang (karaoke) sessions.

6. The Hwarang Warriors

The Hwarang warriors proved to us that your enemies can turn into your friends! This good-looking barkada formed by the characters of Park Seo Joon, Park Hyung Sik, BTS’ V, SHINee’s, Minho, Jo Yoon Woo, and Do Ji Han defines the beauty of bromance. And they’re also friends in real life, with Seo Joon, Hyung Sik, and V being a part of the Wooga Squad!

7.  Crash Landing On You’s Company Five

One word that perfectly fits the Crash Landing On You’s Company Five is their loyalty not just as soldiers but as genuine friends to Captain Ri (Hyun Bin) and Se Ri (Son Ye Jin). Built on trust, their friendship allowed them to go places literally and figuratively.

8. When The Camellia Blooms’ Ongsan Avengers

Who would’ve thought that the chismosang ahjummas will end up protecting their neighbor Dong Baek (Gong Hyo Jin) from all the evil that surrounds her? When The Camellia Bloom’s Ongsan Avengers shows how first impressions don’t always last, and their barkadahan might just be similar to ours—uneventful at times, but the feeling of security is always there.

9. Dr. Romantic’s Doldam Hospital Doctors

When you’re dead-tired from work, you will want to lean on someone who you can vent out to or find solutions with. The endearing doctors at Doldam Hospital (Han Suk Kyu, Yoo Yeon Seok, Seo Hyun Jin, Kim Min Jae, Yang Se Jong, Jin Kyung, and Im Won Hee) may have been an unusual group, but they have set the standard when it comes to work friends. Together, they fight for what is right, give their 100% in surgeries, and enjoy drinking after a long day. Cheers!

10. Boys Over Flowers’ F4

This friendship needs no introduction. 11 years since the Boys Over Flowers has aired and Gu Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho), Yoon Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong), So Yi Jung (Kim Bum), and Song Woo Bin (Kim Joon) remains to be iconic until today. And if you hear someone screaming “F4 will always be F4”, yup, that’s us.

11. Start-Up's Samsan Tech Team

The OG Samsan Tech is composed of Nam Do San (Nam Joo Hyuk), Kim Yong San (Kim Do Wan), and Lee Chul San (Yoo Soo Bin) and after a hackathon event, Seo Dal Mi (Bae Suzy) and Jeong Sa Ha (Stephanie Lee) joined the team. Although this K-drama barkada is not your usual kind of friendship due to their constant ~bickering~, what makes them stand out is that they are always united when it comes to pursuing their dreams (like when they presented their business model).
