What's the plot of D.P.?

Led by Jung Hae In and Goo Kyo HwanD.P., or Deserter's Pursuit, tackles a societal issue that is often swept under the rug. It follows the lives of Ahn Jun Ho and Han Ho Yeol, two soldiers who are part of the D.P. squad and are tasked to bring back the soldiers who have gone AWOL.

During their search, Jun Ho and Ho Yeol discovered the reasons why their fellow soldiers escaped the military, and most of them said that it's the brutality inside the camp. They were bullied, tortured, and sexually assaulted—leaving them traumatized for life. D.P. sheds light on military mistreatment which, according to real-life South Korean soldiers, is somewhat true.

Here's what South Koreans think of D.P.

The first season of D.P. exceeded expectations and was a part of Netflix's Top 10 in different countries three months after it premiered. In South Korea, it was a popular show especially for those who were recently discharged from the military. In recent news, D.P. made it to the New York Times' Best International Shows Of 2021 as the only Korean series on the list. If you haven't watched this masterpiece yet, this is the sign you're looking for.

No spoilers here, but the last episode of season one was definitely a cliffhanger. The sequel will bring us more stories about the soldiers and open our eyes to their often-neglected lives. The second season of D.P. will still be helmed by director Han Joon Hee (Coin Locker Girl, Hit-And-Run-Squad) and written by author Kim Bo Tong, who also wrote the webtoon it was adapted from. Climax Studio, which produced the first season of D.P. and the other Netflix original series Hellbound, will also work on the sequel.

Who's part of the D.P. cast?

Jung Hae In plays a soldier...who catches soldiers! AAhn Jun Ho, the actor is "a new recruit who is scouted to become part of the D.P. squad before he’s even adapted to military life." He's set to hunt after military deserters and it's going to be one thrilling chase! (via Soompi)

Starring alongside Hae-In in D.P. are Goo Kyo Hwan (Peninsula, Kill Boksoon), Kim Sung Kyun (Reply 1994, The Fiery Priest) and Son Suk Ku (Sense8, Mother, Be Melodramatic).

Director Han Jun Hee returns to film season 2 of the hit K-drama, and main leads are making a comeback:

  • Jung Hae In and Goo Kyo Hwan (D.P. unit duo An Jun Ho and Han Ho Yeol)
  • Kim Sung Kyun (Sergeant Park Beom Gu)
  • Son Suk Ku (Lieutenant Lim Ji Seop)

Actors Ji Jin Hee, Kim Ji Hyun, and Choi Hyun Wook are set to join the cast for the new season, as per Soompi.
