Us Pinoys love Korean dramas with an intense passion, and over the years, local television networks such as GMA-7, ABS-CBN, and TV5 have given us their own takes on our beloved shows. And we still squeal from time to time whenever we spot an iconic scene! Here's a list of five recent remakes you might have missed:  

1. My Girl (2008)

The OG story/cast: My Girl is about Joo Yoo Rin (Lee Da Hae) and Seol Gong Chan (Lee Dong Wook), two strangers who accidentally met and had to pretend to be cousins to grant a grandfather's wish. It was pretty easy at first to act like they're family, but then they start falling for each other.

Local cast: Kim ChuiGerald Anderson, and Enchong Dee

2. Stairway To Heaven (2009)

The OG story/cast: Two childhood friends named Han Jung Suh (Choi Ji Woo) and Cha Song Joo (Kwon Sang Woo) who found comfort in each other were separated. They promised to see each other again when Song Joo comes back from the US, until a tragic accident happened.


Local cast: Rhian Ramos, Dingdong Dantes, Glaiza de Castro, and TJ Trinidad

3. Only You (2009)

The OG story/cast: A crowd favorite Koreanovela, Only You brings us to the story of Eun Jae (Han Chae Young), a cook who went to Italy in search of a chef who's great at making pasta. That's where she met Han Yi Joon (Jo Hyun Jae), a chaebol who is looking for his mom. Turns out, they're both on the hunt for the same woman.

Starring: Angel Locsin, Diether Ocampo, and Sam Milby

4. Full House (2010)

The OG story/cast: Adapted from the webtoon of the same name, Full House circles around the lives of Han Ji Eun (Song Hye Kyo) and Lee Young Jae (Rain) who discovered each other in a plane ride. When Ji Eun went to back to South Korea, she found out that her own house was sold to Young Jae by her BFFs!

5. Temptation Of Wife (2012)

The OG story/cast: In this revenge thriller, Eun Jae (Jang Seo Hee), is nearly killed (and cheated on) by her husband Kyo Bin (Byeon Woo Min). Her husband believes that she's dead, and he soon ~meets~ a woman who looks identical to Eun Jae, but with a completely different personality.

Local cast: Marian Rivera, Dennis Trillo, and Glaiza De Castro

6. Two Wives (2014)

The OG story/cast: Chul Soo (Kim Ho Jin) divorces his wife Young Hee (Kim Ji Young) to start anew with a single mother named Ji Sook (Son Tae Young). But after their split, Chul Soo gets involved in an accident and wakes up with amnesia, thinking he's still married to Young-Hee, and everyone else can only play along while he recovers.

7. Pure Love (2014)

The OG story/cast: Based on the drama 49 Days, the Korean version tells the story of Ji Hyun (Nam Gyu Ri) who has a *perfect* life but gets into a serious accident and ends up in a coma. She is given a second chance at life through the ability to possess another girl named Yi Kyung (Lee Yo Won).

8. Baker King (2015)

The OG story/cast: A determined young baker named Tak Gu (Yoon Shi Yoon) overcomes many trials to reach his goal of becoming the best baker in South Korea!

9. My Love From The Star (2017)

The OG story/cast: Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) is an alien that landed on Earth in the year 1609, during the Joseon Dynasty. During the present time, he finds himself involved with self-absorbed actress Cheon Song Yi's (Jun Ji Hyun) crazy and unpredictable situations, and realizes that she looks like the young girl he fell in love with many years ago.

10. Descendants Of The Sun (2020)

The OG story/cast: Starcrossed lovers Yoo Si Jin (Song Joong Ki) and Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) came from two different fields—one's a soldier, while the other's a doctor. Despite the many odds, they managed to keep their relationship strong.
