If you ask us, there's no other Korean artist who fits the definition of a pop diva other than Uhm Jung Hwa. She's the talented singer behind the dance hits "Poison" and "Invitation." In 2020, she made a comeback as a member of the project group Refund Sisters alongside Lee Hyori, Jessi, and MAMAMOO’s Hwasa. With more than three decades of experience in the Korean entertainment industry, Jung Hwa has also dipped her toes into acting. She made her acting debut with a minor role in the 1990 drama Sarang. Known for her versatility as an actress, she eventually landed lead roles in much more comedy, romance, thriller, and action films and dramas. Marriage Is A Crazy Thing is not your typical romance movie. This erotic film is about the  ~steamy~ relationship between longtime bachelor and university professor Joon Young (Kam Woo Sung) and Yeon Hee (Uhm Jung Hwa). The two meet on a blind date and immediately *sparks* fly. Despite their undeniable chemistry, problems arise when commitment just isn't on the cards for Joon Young. In search of a more stable relationship, Yeon Hee eventually marries another man. The now married Yeon Hee still can't let go of her love affair and chooses to continue seeing Joon Young as her secret lover. Uhm Jung Hwa's emotional performance in the movie earned her the Best Film Actress award at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards in 2003.

2. Princess Aurora (2005)

Saleswoman Jung Soon Jung (Uhm Jung Hwa) is an unlikely serial killer with a very unique signature: she always leaves behind a sticker of the cartoon character Princess Aurora at every crime scene. Soon Jung continues to commit seemingly unrelated murders despite having her ex-husband and detective Oh Sung Ho (Moon Seung Geun) hot on her tail. Her motive? Revenge, but for what? This star-studded film revolves around the unfortunate individuals caught in a megatsunami disaster at Haeundae beach in Busan. Uhm Jung Hwa portrays the character of Yoo Jin, the ex-wife of geologist Kim Hwi (Park Jung Hoon). The two race against time to save their daughter Ji Min (Kim Yoo Jung). Their reunion scene will surely leave you ~in tears~.

4. Dancing Queen (2012)

Who else is in it: Hwang Jung Min, Ra Mi Ran

Uhm Jung Hwa stars as herself in this rom-com film about following one's dreams. Jung Hwa dreamt of becoming a K-pop star before getting married to lawyer and mayoral candidate Hwang Jung Min. Motivated to seize what is possibly her last chance at becoming a pop star, she decides to audition, only to fail at the very first stage. Thankfully, her audition clip catches the attention of a talent agency creating a girl group called Dancing Queens. Jung Hwa is forced to lead a double life: A member of an increasingly popular girl group and a *respectable* wife of an aspiring politician. (Fun fact: Lee Hyori, whom Jung Hwa worked with in the project group Refund Sisters, makes a surprise cameo in the film as an audition judge!)

5. A Witch’s Love (2014)

Who else is in it: Park Seo Joon, Ra Mi Ran

A Witch's Love is a rom-com drama about Ban Ji Yeon (Uhm Jung Hwa), an investigative reporter her co-workers (not so lovingly) call a witch. She doesn't believe in true love because of a past heartbreak but all of that changes when she meets Yoon Dong Ha (Park Seo Joon), a small business owner with a heartbreaking experience of his own. The two cross paths and fall in love in spite of their age difference and tragic pasts.

6. You Are Too Much (2017)

Yoo Ji Na (Uhm Jung Hwa) is a legendary pop diva with 20 years of experience under her belt. Despite the glitz and glamor that comes with her successful career, she remains unhappy with her personal life. She forms a love-hate relationship with Jung Hae Dang (Ku Hye Sun and Jang Hee Jin), an impersonator who goes by the stage name Yoo Gina. Ku Hye Sun had to drop out of the project due to a serious medical emergency and she was replaced by Jang Hee Jin for the remainder of the 50-episode drama. Jung Hwa lent her voice to the K-drama's official soundtrack "Let Me Cry."
