You're probably familiar with Hye Yoon's role in Sky Castle and Extraordinary You, if not the many drama cameos she did. So, while we wait for Snowdrop's highly-anticipated release, we are here to introduce her to you.

Here are eight things you'll love to know about Kim Hye Yoon:

3. Her dream career would often change when she was young.

Once upon a time, Hye Yoon dreamed of becoming a patissier after watching the Koreanovela, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. She had many other dreams growing up but eventually, she decided to pursue acting. Hye Yoon shared more about this in an interview with Yonhap News Agency: "When I was little, I was totally absorbed into a character of each drama series I watched, which constantly changed my dream job. It eventually made me want to be an actress."

4. Kim Hye Yoon made her acting debut in 2013.

Did you know that she was cast in six projects in the year she debuted? This just proves that Hye Yoon is born to be a star! Her very first series is Samsaengi, where she portrayed the teenage version of Jung Yoon Hee (Ko Do Young). Since she's still studying, Hye Yoon only made short appearances in various K-dramas, like My Love From The StarLegend Of The Blue Sea, and GoblinBy 2018. she rose to fame after her stint in the high-rating K-drama, Sky Castle.

5. She originally auditioned for a different role in Sky Castle.

In this satirical series, Hye Yoon transformed into Kang Ye Seo, a student who has one goal: To enter South Korea's top school, Seoul National University. Since she came from a family of doctors, she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her father (Jung Joon Ho). Ye Seo is impulsive as she is determined, and she will do everything to get into her dream school. Backed by her mom (Yum Jung Ah), Ye Seo is guided by the recognized tutor for the elite, Kim Joo Young (Kim Seo Hyung).

When the casting for Sky Castle was announced, Hye Yoon first auditioned for the role of Kim Hye Na: "They told me to prepare for both the roles of Hye Na and Ye Seo. When I received the character introductions during the audition, I thought that Hye Na’s tough spirit would suit me better. I auditioned with this mindset, but the director chose me as Ye Seo. But Ye Seo was also pretty charming. I wonder which part of me the director saw as Ye Seo." Her friend, Kim Bo Ra, was cast as Hye Na instead, and their characters became rivals in the show.

Because of her gripping portrayal in Sky Castle, Hye Yoon was awarded Best New Actress at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, aka the Oscars of South Korea!

6. She had a hard time before she became a breakout star.

Hye Yoon had her own share of struggles in her acting career. When asked if she felt impatient because of the consecutive minor roles she got, the 24-year-old said: "Of course I did. This is not a job that has some annual exam or [the option to] enter an agency as an intern, so it felt very unclear. It felt like my dream was really far away. I felt jealous of the people my age coming out on TV and doing well. There were a lot of times where I thought to myself, 'What am I doing right now?' However, the people around me would tell me, 'Every person’s luck is different. Timing is different for each person so don’t get impatient and focus on going down your own path.'"

7. Kim Hye Yoon bagged her first leading role in Extraordinary You.

The webtoon-adapted drama gave us the opportunity to see Hye Yoon in a different light, far from her self-centered role in Sky Castle. Here, she's the adorable and bright-eyed Eun Dan Oh—an extra character in a comic book titled Secret. She's aware of her *importance* in the manhwa but nevertheless, Dan Oh is motivated to become the star of her own life.

Extraordinary You was a popular hit during the year it was aired, thanks to its stunning cast (SF9's Rowoon, Lee Jae Wook, and Kim Young Dae) and interesting plot, not to mention Dan Oh's playful gestures. We can't forget her many versions of "Hello!" and how she would fondly call Ha Roo.

8. She's like Eun Dan Oh IRL.

No matter the struggle, you can always count on Dan Oh to be positive and inspired. Just like her, Hye Yoon shared in an MK Sports interview that her main strengths are "having a bright personality and positive energy."

9. Kim Hye Yoon is cast in two K-dramas this year.

The past few months have been hectic for Hye Yoon with back-to-back filming for her upcoming series! First, there's Snowdrop, where she will be reuniting with the team behind Sky Castle. Hye Yoon's role in this drama is a dorm phone operator named Kye Boon Ok, "who had to forgo a college education due to her family’s financial circumstances," according to Soompi.

Next, Hye Yoon will take us to the Joseon era in the historical drama, The Secret Royal Inspector And Jo Yi. Here, she will be paired with 2PM's Taecyeon as the unconventional Kim Jo Yi—a newly-divorced woman whose life was changed after meeting a secret royal inspector.
